If you’re still using dial-up, you’ve probably either “Not with DSL?” Or “You do not even use a cable?” Expressions of credulity. So you have decided that there are probably at the time of dial-up – and yet the question remains: Who is better, DSL or cable? There are advertisements arguing the benefits of both, but that will really give you more for your money?
The three aspects to consider when comparing DSL and cable Internet connection speed, customer satisfaction and safety.
In theory, cable modems run faster than DSL because they offer more bandwidth. There is also a form of DSL, such as VDSL, which can match the speed of cable modems known. However, the cable speed relative to the number of people in your environment that can enter the area at the same time. A popular shopping street compared to cable modems to drink through a straw – the straw is good, if a person is drunk out of her. But when the straw is shared – and of course everything slows down a little. DSL and cable are different, the speed per minute, depending on the congestion caused by multiple users.
Customer surveys by JD Power and Associates conducted in 2004 found that DSL has an advantage over the cable ratings for customer satisfaction. The study focused on billing, image of the supplier, cost and technical support services and e-mail. Earthlink and Verizon, both DSL are the two major suppliers evaluated in the survey.
As cable modems require a cable-sharing service to offer online for every neighborhood, DSL is a bit safer. However, cable modems are easier to install, and many sources believe that the difference in security is not important enough to spend the time to install DSL. Many cable customers to avoid security problems by setting up firewalls to protect themselves and their data.
