The advantages of this are many including avoiding the morning and evening rush hour, to spend time with your children and caregivers, while everything on your own time. Although there are many pitfalls, is the one I’m focused on this paper that the creation of a secure wireless network for your home business. Right now, somewhere out there, waiting for someone with a receiver, tie an unsuspecting individual LAN. The hope is sensitive information that can lead to identity theft to obtain, and the theft of proprietary information.
Most entrepreneurs are not technically oriented, but they can power user, the security settings in general, not one of the first things they want with their in-game activities daily. This makes wireless LANs an ideal target for robbers of information.
Here are some general guidelines to follow when setting up your wireless network. Although this varies from provider to the largest is more or less the same:
- Configure the wireless router via a point-wired client.
- Always change the default password to something difficult to guess.
- Enable 128-bit Wired Equivalency Privacy (WEP), both on your access point and network card. change from time to time, and the entries in the WEP key. If your hardware does not support a minimum of 128-bit WEP encryption, it can at the time to replace these dinosaurs. WEP is a security measure minimum, which is better than nothing.
- Change to guess the default router for access to a difficult, winding chain SSID. Restart your computer to connect to this SSID configured by default.
- Setup your access point to the SSID not transmitted, if available.
- Block Anonymous Internet requests and pings.
- P2P connections should be disabled.
- Enable MAC filtering.
- Enable disabled firewall on the network router / access point to the DMZ function. Enable client firewall for each computer on the network.
- Update firmware on the router and access point are available as updates.
- Ensure that the physical router so that a random person can not reset the settings hidden.
- Position the router on the physical environment of the institution, as opposed to Windows to prevent close to a third party outside of the reception of signals.
These and other parameters together help to prevent unwanted guests on your private data.
